HotCW Resuming Development

Heroes of the Cold War began nearly two years ago as a prototype Flash game created by four students attending the Art Institute of Portland. After 3 months of work in Flash we had a playable, albeit buggy, prototype.  Over those few months of developments we ran into a few issues and limitations with Flash that we felt held us back.  On and off over the next year I began experimenting with Microsoft’s new (at the time) XNA framework and wrote a simple 2D game engine. Satisfied with the basic functionality of this new engine we began to convert the game to from Flash/Actionscript 2 to C#.

After working on the new version for a few months we had a playable (though still buggy) version of the game with many more features than the original Flash prototype.  After graduating in December of 2007 development of the game wound down, though we still wanted to complete and release the game someday.

Now, a year later, we’ve finally decided to resume development on Heroes of the Cold War in earnest.

Over the next few days, weeks, and months we’ll hopefully be updating this site with more information on the game. You can also look forward to seeing posts from members of the development team with updates on what we’re working on and the overall progress of the game.
